ABSA donates funds to TUT

TUT chancellor, Gauteng MEC of health and former patron of the TUT Bursary and Scholarship Fund, Dr Gwen Ramokgopa, said the contribution to TUT would make the bank the biggest supporter of the TUT Bursary and Scholarship Fund to date.

Absa bank has donated funds to Tshwane University of Technology to contribute to their bursary and scholarship schemes.

The bank has announced a contribution of R63,1 million to scholarship funding to support university students across Limpopo and Pretoria.

The funding will go towards a three-year undergraduate degree in commerce, humanities, engineering or science and technology on the basis of their academic excellence.

The agreement was made official when the universities’ vice chancellors signed the agreement with the bank in Pretoria.

Tshwane University of Technology was awarded R11,4 million over the next three years.

Absa will also be supporting Unisa with R6,5 million and the universities of Venda and Limpopo with R5 million each bringing the total investment to a grand total of R63.1 million.
